Dr. David Powell, a former Naval officer with a background in body-oriented psychotherapy, brings a unique perspective to the practice of Chiropractic. After the Navy he decided to pursue an education in Chiropractic in order to help people live healthier, happier lives. In the Navy, Dr. Powell, then known as Lieutenant Powell, was an experienced motivator who was able to go into a new command and take a lethargic PT (physical training) program and bring it new life. Those under his command not only began to enjoy working out but also looked forward to his SEAL inspired PT sessions which focused on team building and physical fitness. After the initial grumbling the sailors realized a renewed sense of self-worth and pride.
Before joining the Navy to become a Korean linguist, Dr. Powell did graduate work at John F. Kennedy University, Orinda California, in marriage and family counseling with an emphasis on body-oriented psychotherapy and holistic health. Although he is not currently a licensed therapist he brings this perspective to his practice of Chiropractic; he understands the relationship between the mind and body and how it can physically manifest itself as pain or stiffness.
While in the Navy Dr. Powell meet and married Kristina, a Billings native. After many years of moving around the country she convinced him that Montana is a great place to live and work so they decided to start their Chiropractic practice here.
While not at the office, Dr. Powell enjoys being physically active, whether running along rims, hiking in the beautiful Beartooth Mountains, or playing Frisbee with their dog Hallie.
Kris is originally from Billings. She is a graduate of Sky View High School and MSU Bozeman. She is also an occasional Graduate student and looks forward to focusing on her studies again once life at the practice settles into a steady rhythm.
She loves the outdoors. A typical Sunday afternoon will find her with their dog, Hallie, on some hiking trail somewhere. Hallie, by the way, is a 13 year old Australian Sheppard/Blue Healer mix with the attitude of a dog half her age.
